Downtown Ministerium’s summer vacation bachelor of arts in fashion design Bible School offers a Bible lesson relating to a “theme of the week” and then divides kids into groups to learn more about the topic of the day. After lunch at a different downtown church each day, campers take an afternoon excursion in and around Pittsburgh. It looks like summer 2025 info hasn’t been announced yet, but look for info here. For two weeks this summer, the STEAM Outside Camp engages 4th, 5th, or 6th graders in the urban forest, fields, and rivers through a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) lens. We’ve reached out for details on the plan for summer 2025 and will post here as soon as we hear back. The six-week camp is geared towards 3- to 7-year-olds and it’s all about having fun outdoors.
Fashion Camp culminates in a fun and sustainable Fashion Show that highlights the students’ design process and showcases their outfits in both action and function. I began teaching Fashion Forecasting at Buffalo State College and now hold the position of Advisory Board Chair for The Harkness Center of Fashion Design and Technology Program. Inspiring and mentoring others to develop their creative talents and grow their own fashion businesses is what drives me today. I moved to NYC, where I worked in Fashion Marketing, Product Development and Merchandising. Now, after 35-years in fashion, I have had the pleasure of leading design, product development and merchandising teams for brands including New Era Cap, Life is good, Timberland and OshKosh B’Gosh. As a parent, it’s easy to feel inadequate when you never learned even the basics to pass on to your children.
Envision And Sew Your Designs
The Hillman Academy provides authentic research experiences and mentorship to high school students ages 15 and older. Participants work in labs on a cancer research project alongside a Pitt faculty member, graduate student or post-doc. The seven-week program tentatively runs June 17 to Aug. 2 with a final application deadline of Feb. 16. The program offers 34-plus stipends to students from underrepresented groups. Camp Invention offers an inspiring, action-packed experience for kids in grades K-6.
Led by industry experts, students will learn new, creative approaches such as upcycling, recycling, reusing, deconstructing and reconstructing garments on the mannequin. They will also practise hand- and machine-sewing, traditional screen printing and tie-dyeing techniques. This unique combination of craftsmanship and creativity equips students with essential skills for use in the ever-evolving fashion landscape. A perfect step up for our slightly older design enthusiasts. In this full-day session campers learn how to take a slightly more complex garment (a top) from concept to completion in a creative, fun-filled setting.
You’ll also learn fabric work, pattern-cutting, and the intricacies of design features like pockets and zippers. The world of fashion is constantly evolving, and summer programs ensure you stay ahead of the curve. Founded in the heart of Manhattan’s Garment District, The Fashion Class offers teens an immersive fashion education in the epicenter of the industry.
This program at our fashion and design school provides a deep understanding and expertise in garment construction, digital design, and collection creation. This summer, Sew Pinellas is thrilled to offer an exclusive series of fashion design camps for young enthusiasts aged 9-17. Spanning two exciting weeks each, these camps are designed to ignite creativity and passion in the worlds of fashion and cosplay. Note that there are a select number of spaces for weekly registrations for our summer camps, but the curriculum is designed around 2 weeks.
Limited scholarships are available, with applications due by March 3. Dragon’s Den returns for the 2025 summer camp season with another great lineup. This transformative educational environment reinvented the former St. Mary Magdalene Church as a two-level ropes course and zipline. Kids ages 7-13 will find exciting camps that range from Dragon Quest to Sports and Scales. This nature-based camp is located at The Discovery School in Allison Park, offering a full-day camp for children ages 3 to 11. Lunch and snacks are included and before-care is available at no cost.

The Program in Fashion is perfect for young fashion enthusiasts who want to immerse themselves in the world of fashion design. In the afternoon all students come together for the UPCYCLING & SUSTAINABLE FASHION course. This course offers a unique blend of craftsmanship and creativity, seamlessly integrating fashion with sustainability.
This project is a great way to build confidence behind the sewing machine while exploring personal style and creativity in a supportive, hands-on environment. Ascend Pittsburgh’s summer camps are designed to grow strong minds and bodies. Caring, experienced counselors guide kids through fun and developmentally appropriate activities, including bouldering, top-rope climbing, yoga and slacklining. Kids develop strength, dexterity and balance while they’re having fun and making friends. These classes are designed to be accessible for all levels for kids ages 6-16.
