High prices, low inventory, and burdensome regulations have created one of the nation’s most challenging housing markets. That’s why the National Association of Realtors (NAR), in partnership with the California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.) and local associations like the Santa Barbara Association of Realtors (SBAOR), is working every day to turn that tide. June is National Homeownership Month, and it is a time to reflect on the role it plays in strengthening families, building communities, and creating generational wealth. Yet for many Californians, the dream of homeownership feels further out of reach than ever.

Daytime temperatures in the high-70s and low- to mid-80s are expected in Goleta and Santa Barbara, respectively, early this week. With another warm day and wind in the forecast, Southern California Edison has issued warnings for public safety power shutoffs (PSPS) for wide swaths of the Santa Barbara South Coast.

ICE also conducted workplace raids in Ventura County on Tuesday, with Oxnard seeing the biggest impact out of the two counties, Diaz said. On Tuesday, a crew leader on a field on the west side of Santa Maria noticed three unmarked vehicles parading through the fields and suspected that they were ICE officers, according to Diaz. The crew leader alerted other supervisors, and while some employees fled the fields, some were taken into custody, Diaz said. In the meantime, Talkin said the Foodbank is doing everything it can to provide for the county and its residents. Even though he called the cuts a “disaster,” he said the Foodbank has weathered disasters in the past.

He added that the cuts also will affect local farmers who are paid with funding provided by the government programs. Even though the cuts will have a massive effect on the Foodbank, Talkin said he hopes the Trump administration realizes that people rely on those programs and changes course. Despite rising inflation and a higher number of clients, the organization will have fewer resources to help.
